Regional Level Athletes for 2016/17

For the 2016/17 sports bursaries, the panel selected 6 Regional Level athletes to award with a financial bursary with the intention of assisting them to reach the next level of their chosen sport. The Active-In team were very impressed with each of their applications and look forward to monitoring their progress with great interest of the next 12 months. Details of the 6 athletes for 2016/17 can be found below:

Jemma Bowler - Cycling


A Marlow based cyclist currently competing as part of the British Cycling Regional School of Road Racing. Jemma has achieved a lot of notable performances including a 3rd place finish in the Slipstreamers Summer Race Series, 10th in the National Omnium Finals and was selected to ride for the Central Region in the Prudential Ride London Youth Grand Prix.

Oliver Hucks - Cycling


A member of the High Wycombe Cycling Club, Oliver has shown impressive progression on the bike with some notable performances including severval podium finishes. With our support, Oliver is hoping to secure the services of some specific coaching which will further improve his ability to be even more competitive in the 2017 Junior Tour Series. 

Alex Mullis - Squash


A squash player that forms part of the Bucks County and South Regional Under 11's squads. Playing at Wycombe Squash and Racketball Club, Alex has excelled amongst his peers and plays as number 1 and captain for the South Regional Squad that finished 3rd place in the England Squash Inter-Regional Tournament in January. He is currently ranked a 3rd in England at Under 11's level. 

Alisa Sydykova - Judo


Based at the Micklefield Judo Club, Alisa represented the Northern Home Counties Team at the British Team Championships in July 2016 where she won a silver medal. Her record over the past 18 months is impressive with numerous top 5 finishes at local, regional and national competitions across the UK. Alisa is currently ranked 5th in the British Judo Association Ippon Rankings.

Daisy Hacking - Hockey


Playing for Wycombe Hockey Club, Daisy has been a staple part of the Junior Regional Performance Centre (JRPC) programme with England Hockey for the past couple of years. She has already experience some fantatsic achievments and accolades including being the Wycombe Ladies 1's Player of the Season, and becoming Champion with her U18 team at the National Indoor Tournament, held at the Copper Box Olympic Stadium.

Isabelle Tucker - Volleyball


Having moved from Florida USA, Isabelle soon discovered a lack of opportunities for competitive volleyball in the area. However, with support from her parents, she has found oppotunities that have allowed her to excel in the sport here in the UK. She now competes in the Volleyball England Futures squad, and has the opportunity to really progress over the coming year.
